Heed the Call

by SIOP Administrative Office

The call for proposals for the 2019 SIOP Annual Conference is now open

Before you rush to submit your work for the 2019 SIOP Conference, be sure to read the Call for Proposals (CFP). Prepared by Program Chair Tracey Rizzuto, this valuable document provides all the information you need to make sure your proposal follows all the submission requirements, which can mean the difference between acceptance and rejection.

From word limits to presenter roles, the CFP clarifies all the guidelines so don’t let a minor error cost you a spot on the program. In addition, the CFP provides information on the conference committee, those dedicated SIOP volunteers who help plan and execute the premier event in I-O psychology.

Members can find the call for proposals on the SIOP conference main page by clicking the Annual Conference link on the Meetings tab.

Please pay careful attention to the submission guidelines as some requirements have changed and new opportunities are available, including a new format: IGNITE sessions. IGNITE sessions present up to seven experts on a focal scientific or practical I-O topic who each prepare 20 auto-advancing slides for a 5-minute presentation. These engaging panels have proved so popular that they warrant their own format.  Also included this year are options for the submission of reproducible research, whereby the presenters provide SIOP Community access to code or syntax used in analysis, data or mock data on which to run the code, and/or a READ ME file with instructions detailing the analysis process, and cross-disciplinary sessions, which include at least one presenter or author from a field other than I-O, HR, or a highly related field.

NEW THIS YEAR! As a result of new privacy and data use updates, all presenters must log in or create an account on my.SIOP.org to read and accept the privacy policy and terms of use. Presenters will not appear in the online or searchable program without doing this.

The conference is scheduled for April 4-6 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center near Washington DC. The submission deadline is Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 5:00 Eastern Daylight Time. No exceptions will be made for late submissions.
