Sign UP for Team SIOP!

by SIOP Administrative Office

Deadline for Volunteering is June 30

Being an active player on the team is a one of the best ways to derive value from your SIOP membership. Members discuss some of the many ways, and many reasons, to volunteer in the short video below.

Now, at the start of the membership year, please consider signing up for service on a SIOP Committee.  You can find information online about who is signed up on the committee rosters page, along with  complete committee descriptions.

Then Click here to volunteer. Please make your volunteer selections by June 30, 2018 to be considered for committee placement.

While you’re logged into your account, take a few moments to make sure your profile is complete and up to date. The more committee chairs know about your interests and activities, the more likely you will be chosen for a committee that perfectly suits you.

You should find the SIOP Volunteer System (SVS), completely redesigned for your convenience in 2017, easy to use. This year, a new check box allowing you to indicate interest in service on an external project has been added.

There are two technicalities to keep in mind while using the SIOP Volunteer System. First, your dues must be paid for the 2019 year; and second, you must use the red submit button to complete your selections.  All who volunteer using the SVS will be notified of their acceptance status by late-July.

Why should you consider serving on a SIOP committee?

  • You will develop new personal and professional relationships and enrich your knowledge of the profession while collaborating with current and future I-O psychology thought leaders.
  • Your work advances the profession of I-O psychology by raising public awareness of its value to the business community, and to the public at large.
  • You can assist SIOP in providing even greater value for your fellow members by helping keep their needs in clear focus.
  • Working within the committee structure is a great way to develop your leadership skills and train for possible future leadership roles in the organization.

SIOP members of all membership types may be considered for committee membership, although only one Student Affiliate may serve on any one committee at a given time.

If you have any questions about the volunteer process, please email Jim Rebar at jrebar@siop.org. Committee chairs select members early each fiscal year. Read a guide to the SIOP Volunteer System here!

Thank you for your support of SIOP and the I-O psychology profession!
