Jeff McHenry Recently Elected to APA Council

Results of the American Psychological Association (APA) Council of Representatives election have been received from the APA office.

SIOP is pleased to announce that Fellow Jeff McHenry, Principal of Rainier Leadership Solutions, has been elected to serve as an APA Council Representative for Division 14. McHenry will join the SIOP Executive Board effective January 1, 2018. He will serve a 3-year term.

McHenry will replace Dierdre Knapp, whose term will expire at the end of December.

The Council of Representatives is the legislative body of APA and has full power and authority over the affairs and funds of the association within the limitations set by the certificate of incorporation and the bylaws, including the power to review, upon its own initiative, the actions of any board, committee, division, or affiliated organization. Council is composed of representatives of divisions; representatives of state, provincial, and territorial psychological associations (SPTAs); and the members of the Board of Directors.

Jeff McHenry is the Principal of Rainier Leadership Solutions, which he founded in 2011. Jeff has deep expertise in coaching and developing senior leaders, high-potential development, and business-driven transformational change. His clients have included 3M, Cigna, Deloitte, Juniper Networks, Microsoft, Slalom Consulting, Statoil, Weyerhaeuser, and World Vision. Jeff is also an Adjunct Professor of Management at Georgetown University and the University of Southern California, where he teaches in the universities’ executive education programs. He frequently speaks and delivers workshops on leadership and organizational development at professional conferences.

Previously, Jeff spent 18 years at Microsoft Corporation. His last role at Microsoft was General Manager, Leadership Development & Recruiting, where he was responsible for executive recruiting and talent management, leadership and high potential development, and organizational development for the entire Corporation. During his time in this role, Microsoft won several prestigious awards for leadership development, including a 2011 Top 20 Companies for Leadership award from the Hay Group, a 2011 Best Practice Award from the European Foundation for Management Development, and a 2010 Action Learning Organization Award from the World Institute for Action Learning. Jeff is a Fellow and Past President of SIOP.

Jeff also currently serves on the organizing committee for the 2017 SIOP Leading Edge Consortium.
