SIOP Now Accepting Nominations for APA Council of Representatives

by SIOP Administrative Office

SIOP members who are also voting APA members will be electing one new representative to the APA Council of Representatives.

SIOP’s voting APA members should have recently received an email with instructions from SIOP. Those members can nominate here. You will need your user name and password.

Nominees must be SIOP and APA members in good standing. The deadline for nominations is midnight EST January 30, 2017.

The elected candidate will serve a 3-year term beginning January 1, 2018. The successful candidate will also serve as a member of the SIOP Executive Board.

The Council of Representatives is the legislative body of APA and has full power and authority over the affairs and funds of the association within the limitations set by the certificate of incorporation and the bylaws, including the power to review, upon its own initiative, the actions of any board, committee, division, or affiliated organization.

Council is composed of representatives of divisions, representatives of state, provincial and territorial psychological associations (SPTAs), and the members of the board of directors.

The SIOP Elections Committee intends to submit a list of three nominees for the position to APA for the ballot. The nominees will be those eligible members who receive the highest number of nominations. It is required that each nominee submit a candidate statement not to exceed 250 words. These statements will be posted on the APA and SIOP websites to help educate voters. The ballot to vote for APA Council Representatives will come from APA.
