Check Out the Talent Analytics Agenda!

by SIOP Administrative Office

SIOP LEC Agenda Now Available, Dan Putka and Alan Wild to Speak as Keynotes

Over the past several years, the topic of talent analytics has enjoyed a tremendous increase in popular attention—and for good reason.

For a typical Fortune 1000 company, just a 10% increase in data accessibility could result in more than $65 million in additional net income, according to a recent Forbes article, (“Big Data: 20 Mind-Boggling Facts Everyone Must Read,” September 30, 2015). Estimates suggest that by better integrating big data, healthcare could save as much as $300 billion a year — that’s equal to reducing costs by $1,000 a year for every man, woman, and child. Retailers who leverage the full power of big data could increase their operating margins by as much as 60%.

Yet at the same time, according to Forbes, less than 0.5% of all data is ever analyzed and used. So, how can you help your organization utilize and benefit from its analytics?

The 12th Annual Leading Edge Consortium (LEC), “Talent Analytics: Data Science to Drive People Decisions and Business Impact,” will showcase the power and promise of this science with a focus on combining organizational science with new and emerging methods in data collection, analysis, and display to deliver game-changing insight for organizations. Sessions will focus on academic grounding, collection methods, and results methods, with presentations such as “Collecting Data Beyond the Human Resource Information System” and “Applying Predictive Analytics to Application Data: Higher Quality for Less Effort.” Topics like data visualization will also be explored, such as during Evan Sinar’s “Finding the Face of Big Data: Visualization to Inform and Influence” (read more about his presentation topic here). The complete LEC agenda can be found here

This year’s list of LEC speakers includes talented experts in the field of talent analytics. The list of confirmed speakers, including abstracts and bios, can be found here. SIOP is especially pleased to welcome Alan Wild (far left), Vice President of Human Resources, Employee Relations, and Engagement at IBM, and SIOP Fellow Dan Putka, Principal Staff Scientist at HumRRO, as keynote speakers. Both bring with them years of expertise and experience in the field of talent analytics along with plans for intriguing presentations and discussion.

Over the past 15 years, Putka has helped numerous organizations develop, evaluate, and implement assessments to enhance their hiring and promotion processes, and guide individuals to career and job opportunities that fit them well. He will present "Big Data Mythbusters: Benefiting From Big Data Analytic Methods With Your Small Data.” Continue reading about Dan here.

Wild is a specialist in international employee and labor relations, employee engagement, and human resource strategy who is responsible for IBM’s employee relations and employee engagement strategies and practices. He will speak on "Managing Employee Engagement in a Social World.” Continue reading about Wild here.

The consortium includes breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday, breaks, and a reception on Thursday evening. Registration also includes access to all presentation materials from the event as well as the Resource Guide, a compilation of presenter references and citations to relevant articles, web pages, and publications on the topic of talent analytics.

Registration is $725, but the early registration fee of $645 is available to those registering on or before August 29, 2016. In order to ensure the highest quality experience for our attendees, registration will be limited. To avoid disappointment, we suggest you register promptly!
