Stellar Lineup of Workshops Available For Conference Attendees

by SIOP Administrative Office

The 2016 Pre-Conference Workshops on Wednesday, April 13 offer attendees a world-class opportunity for professional education and growth. “Few if any alternative professional development opportunities offer a stronger return on an I-O’s time and cost investment,” said Evan Sinar, SIOP’s Conferences and Program Officer.

The SIOP Workshop Committee, led by chair Emily Solberg, has put together a schedule of presentations given by notable experts that cover several of the top 10 workplace trends along with some perennially important topics. Learn more about the sessions here.

According to Solberg, “The workshops are targeted to create tools and provide information that you can apply immediately” Her blue ribbon committee includes representatives of some of the largest consulting firms, members of academia and staff from several Fortune 500 companies.

The registration fee for the workshops is just $450 for SIOP members, $700 for non-members. Two in-depth workshops that offer up to 7 continuing education credits, access to materials from all of the sessions, coffee breaks, lunch, and a networking dinner reception with wine tasting are all included in the cost. “Networking is really a draw for the workshops,” said Solberg. “This is a great opportunity to meet leaders in the field. It’s the best of SIOP.”

According to Sinar, “Pre-Conference workshops arm SIOP members with immersive, focused, and actionable insights about foundational and emerging topics. Workshops attendees return from SIOP with an expanded toolbox for professional practice, deep awareness of leading-edge research, and a broader network of like-minded peers.”

Individual workshop sessions include legal updates and a roundup of the best new thinking in I-O. The rest of the sessions address how technology is changing the way work is done, which is number 2 on 2016’s top 10 list, business agility (#7), employee engagement (#5) and leveraging big data, the number one item on SIOP’s list of the Top 10 Workplace Trends for 2016.

If you’ve already registered for the conference, you can add the workshops by visiting the Attendee Service Center.  Click “Registration Edit”, click “Continue” (twice) and then select the “Preconference Workshop” check box.
