Member Comments Sought On Updated Guidelines Proposal

by SIOP Administrative Office

The Education and Training Committee has completed its proposed revisions to the Guidelines for Education and Training at the Master’s and Doctoral Levels in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and is seeking member discussion through my.SIOP.

The proposed guidelines will be available for a period of review and comment from February 8-March 4.

Beginning February 8, the proposed guidelines will be available at www.siop.org/ETguidelines.aspx  Members can provide comments via the online discussion forum in my.SIOP

The SIOP Executive Board commissioned the E&T Committee to revise the guidelines, which were last updated in 1999.

A subcommittee, led by Stephanie Payne, has been working to conduct a thorough review of the current guidelines and has gathered information and suggestions from a variety of sources to include in a revision.

A major change is to create one guidelines document with one set of competencies for both master’s and doctoral degrees. Currently there are separate guidelines for the two degrees. This recommendation was approved by the Executive Board in September 2015.

The current guidelines for the master’s level can be found at siop.org/guidelines.aspx and the current doctoral level is at siop.org/PhDGuidelines98.aspx.
