Keeping Good Company With Evidence-Based HR Practices

What do Bank of America, Huntington Bank, Cargill, Sears Holdings Corporation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Frito Lay, P&G, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and North Shore-LIJ have in common?

They are all proud recipients of the HRM Impact Award. Since 2013, the HRM Impact Awards have recognized organizations for their outstanding evidence-based HR management practices. Read more about these organizations and the programs that earned the recognition here: http://hrmimpactawards.org/Winners

Should your organization’s name be on that list too?  If so, you are invited to submit for the 2016 HRM Impact Awards, which will be bestowed at the annual Leading Edge Consortium. This year’s LEC will be at the Intercontinental Buckhead Atlanta on October 21-22.

The HRM Impact Award Review Committee evaluates submissions on four criteria.
  1. Financial or operational impact on the business or enterprise.
  2. People impact on employees and teams.
  3. Scientific impact on the research and practice of HR, industrial-organizational psychology, and/or management.
  4. Quality of evidence in support of the financial, people, and scientific impacts

The prestigious HRM Impact Award helps recipient organizations attract and retain top HR talent, who value evidence-based HR practice and want to work with leaders in the field.

But the benefits of striving for excellence in evidence-based HR practice are much broader in scope. Scientifically grounded, evidence-supported HR practices strengthen companies’ efforts in talent recruiting, management, and retention across organizational divisions.

The nomination window for the 2016 HRM Impact Awards is February 1 through April 30. Any for-profit, not-for-profit, or government organization, located anywhere in the world, is eligible for this award, although consulting firms may not submit an application. Rather, they are encouraged to have their clients submit an application that highlights a practice developed by the consulting firm and used in the client organization.

The HRM Impact Awards program is a collaboration of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the SIOP Foundation, and the the SHRM Foundation.

Submitting organizations should provide supporting documentation that demonstrates how the practice or initiative being submitted for this award results in tangible benefits to the organization.

Applications will be evaluated by a panel of volunteer judges including both academics and HR practitioners from the four sponsoring organizations: SIOP, SHRM, the SIOP Foundation, and the SHRM Foundation.  Membership in SHRM or SIOP is not required for submitting organizations. Applications must be submitted in English.  Read more about the awards and download the application here: http://www.hrmimpactawards.org/
