Five Reasons You Need to Be at SIOP’s LEC!

by SIOP Administrative Office

At SIOP’s 11th Annual Leading Edge Consortium, to be held October 2-3, 2015, at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront, leaders in the field of performance management will explore innovative strategies, tools, and methods to drive high performance in today’s complex and demanding work environment.

Here are five reasons you need to be at SIOP’s LEC:

  1. Friday Night Networking Dinner at Salvatore's–The Leading Edge Consortium’s Friday night networking dinner will give attendees a chance to sample some of Boston’s finest cuisine while enjoying great discussion in the company of new and old friends. In addition to this optional dinner, the LEC offers plenty of other networking opportunities, including receptions, lunches, and breaks. The event also takes place in general session, conducive to interaction with presenters and conversing with leaders in the performance management field.
  2. 2015 LEC Resource Guide–All LEC attendees will receive the 2015 LEC Resource Guide, a compilation of presenter references and citations to relevant articles, web pages, and publications on the topic of performance management. Attendees will receive online access to all presentation materials from the event as well. The LEC arms attendees with practical knowledge and tools they can implement directly into their organization.
  3. John Boudreau, Allan Church, and David Rock–This year’s keynote speakers are truly exemplary professionals in their field, and the rest of the speaker lineup is just as impressive! The LEC speakers are professionals who know the strategies that make for an effective performance management system, and the Leading Edge Consortium is an opportunity to learn from some of the most notable experts in the field of performance management. Read the full speaker list here and the LEC agenda here!
  4. Continuing Education Credits for Psychology and Human Resource Management–The LEC allows attendees to expand their knowledge of the field of performance management while gaining practical strategies they can take to any organization. In addition to the information and knowledge attendees will gain at the LEC, they may also earn up to 11 continuing education credits through the American Psychological Association* and up to 11 Professional Development Credits (PDCs) through SHRM for the SHRM-CPSM or SHRM-SCPSM. To learn more, visit the CE page.
  5. Performance Management Is More Relevant than Ever–The management consulting company Accenture recently announced it will be discontinuing performance reviews and rankings for all 330,000 of its employees. In March, Deloitte announced that it was piloting a new program to do the same and Microsoft did away with its rankings 2 years ago. If performance reviews don’t drive high performance, what will?

As the workplace changes and becomes more complex, organizations increasingly need to grow and improve performance with the same or less resources. This year’s LEC will explore ways to achieve positive organizational change, enable manager effectiveness and ability to drive performance, and enact learning and behavior change that’s needed to achieve success. Myths will be debunked about the effectiveness of our current talent management approaches in motivating and improving employee performance as we explore new thinking on what’s necessary today to actually impact performance outcomes.

For anyone concerned with developing and maintaining a high-performance organization, this year’s LEC will offer invaluable information, strategies, and research.

Due to exceptional interest in this year’s LEC, seats are filling quickly. Don’t miss your chance to reserve a seat. Register by August 28 to receive the early registration discount!
