SIOP Presents Three Impressive Keynote Speakers at its 2015 LEC!

As the workplace continues to change, creating increasingly complex organizational structures and placing greater demands on employees, organizations must adapt to optimize performance, meet expectations, and compete effectively.

The 11th Annual SIOP Leading Edge Consortium, “Building a High Performance Organization: A Fresh Look at Performance Management,” will focus on innovative strategies, tools, and methods to drive high performance in this complex and demanding work environment. This year, SIOP is pleased to present three distinguished keynote speakers to explore performance management, all leaders in the field:

John Boudreau
USC Marshall School of Business

John W. Boudreau, PhD, is professor and research director at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and Center for Effective Organizations. He is recognized worldwide for breakthrough research on the bridge between superior human capital, talent, and sustainable competitive advantage.  Dr. Boudreau consults and conducts executive development with companies worldwide that seek to maximize their employees’ effectiveness by discovering the specific strategic bottom-line impact of superior people and human capital strategies.

Dr. Boudreau has more than 200 publications including books such as Retooling HR: Using Proven Business Tools to Make Better Decisions About Talent (Harvard Business, 2010) and Beyond HR:  The New Science of Human Capital, with Peter M. Ramstad (Harvard Business, 2007); Short Introduction to Strategic Human Resources with Wayne Cascio (Cambridge University Press, 2012); Transformative HR, with Ravin Jesuthasan (John Wiley and Sons, 2011); Effective Human Resource Management: A Global Analysis, with Edward Lawler (Stanford University Press, 2012); Investing in People, with Wayne F. Allan Church

Allan H. Church, PhD, is the vice president of Organization Development Global Groups, Functions & Corporate, and Executive Assessment & Development at PepsiCo.  He is responsible for leading the talent development and capability building agenda for PepsiCo’s Global Groups (i.e., global beverages, global snacks, and global nutrition), global marketing, strategy, operations, information systems, and the corporate functions.  In addition, he is responsible at the enterprise level for building executive talent assessment and development capabilities to strengthen the company’s C-suite leadership pipeline. Dr. Church joined PepsiCo in December 2000.  Previously he spent 9 years as an external OD consultant working for W. Warner Burke Associates and several years at IBM in the Communications Measurement and Research, and Corporate Personnel Research departments.  On the side, he has served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University and as chair of the Mayflower Group.

Dr. Church is currently a visiting faculty scholar at Benedictine University, a member of the executive committee of the Conference Board’s Council of Talent Management, and SIOP’s publications officer. Dr. Church received his PhD in organizational psychology from Columbia University. He is a Fellow of SIOP, the American Psychological Association, and the Association for Psychological Science.

David Rock
NeuroLeadership Institute

Dr. David Rock coined the term “Neuroleadership” and is the director of the NeuroLeadership Institute, a global initiative bringing neuroscientists and leadership experts together to build a new science for leadership development. With operations in 24 countries, the Institute also helps large organizations operationalize brain research in order to develop better leaders and managers.

David co-edits the NeuroLeadership Journal and heads up an annual global summit. He has written many of the central academic and discussion papers that have defined the neuroleadership field. He is the author of the business best seller Your Brain at Work (Harper Business, 2009), as well as Quiet Leadership (Harper Collins, 2006) and the textbook Coaching with the Brain in Mind (Wiley & Sons, 2009). He blogs for the Harvard Business Review, Fortune Magazine, Psychology Today, and the Huffington Post, and is quoted widely in the media about leadership, organizational effectiveness, and the brain.

Academically, David is on the faculty and advisory board of CIMBA, an international business school based in Europe, and a guest lecturer at many universities including Oxford University¹s Said Business School. He is on the board of the BlueSchool, an initiative in New York City building a new approach to education. He received his professional doctorate in the Neuroscience of Leadership from Middlesex University in 2010.

The consortium includes lunch on Friday and Saturday, breaks, and a reception on Thursday evening. Registration also includes access to all presentation materials from the event as well as the Resource Guide, a compilation of presenter references and citations to relevant articles, web pages, and publications on the topic of succession management.

This year's consortium will include sessions on performance management strategy, benchmarking, legal issues, design, and feedback, including case studies from such organizations as Google, Sears Holding Corporation, General Electric, the FBI, and Deloitte.

Sessions will explore ways to achieve positive organizational change, enable manager effectiveness and ability to drive performance, and enact learning and behavior change that’s needed to achieve success. Myths will be debunked about the effectiveness of our current talent management approaches in motivating and improving employee performance as we explore new thinking on what’s necessary today to actually impact performance outcomes.
