by SIOP Administrative Office

At SIOP’s 10th Annual Leading Edge Consortium, to be held October 17-18, 2014, at the Loews Chicago O’Hare, leaders in the field will explore topics that are core to effective succession management. Here are five reasons you need to be at SIOP’s LEC:

1. Networking opportunities- The Leading Edge Consortium takes place in general session, conducive to interaction with presenters and networking with leaders in the succession planning field. This event is a terrific opportunity for practitioners to seek guidance, knowledge, and wisdom from mentors who have “been there and done that.” Another networking opportunity includes the Friday night dine-around, where attendees will sample Chicago’s finest cuisine while enjoying great discussion in the company of new and old friends.

2. Knowledgeable speakers- The Leading Edge Consortium is an opportunity to learn from some of the most notable experts field of succession management. Opening keynote speaker Marc Effron (left), President of the Talent Strategy Group, and closing keynote Morgan McCall, University of Southern California, will offer interesting perspectives from their own distinguished careers. Effron will present “Science. Simplicity. Potential. Us.” McCall will speak on the topic of “Why Succession Planning Falls Short on Development (and What Might Be Done About It).” To learn more, read the LEC agenda!

3. Practical information for your organization- The LEC also arms attendees with practical knowledge and tools they can implement directly into their organization. The LEC speakers are professionals who have worked in the field and who know the strategies that make for an effective succession management strategy. Attendees will receive online access to all presentation materials as well as the LEC 2014 Resource Guide, a compilation of presenter references and citations for relevant articles, websites, and publications.

4. Professional development-The LEC allows attendees to expand their knowledge of the field of succession planning while gaining practical strategies they can take to any organization. In addition to the information and knowledge attendees will gain at the LEC, they may also earn up to 8.5 continuing education credits for psychology purposes.* To learn more, visit the CE page.

5. Because you can’t afford not to- According to a 2013 CEB survey, almost two thirds of HR managers believe succession management is the largest concern facing companies today. We are ready to help you navigate this issue. For anyone charged with developing or improving the leadership pipeline in their organization, this LEC will offer invaluable information, strategies, and research.
