Honoring HR Contributions

Nominations Now Open for Michael R. Losey Human Resource Research Award

Nominations are now open for the Michael R. Losey Human Resource Research Award, which acknowledges significant past research accomplishments and continuing contributions by an HR researcher to the human resource management field.

This prestigious award recognizes significant contributions to the HR field through empirical research and its application to practice. The annual award provides $50,000 to the honored researcher.

To be eligible, a nominee must possess a broad and deep track record of contributions to the HR discipline through research, as well as interactions with the practitioner community. Examples include speaking and consulting engagements, as well as authoring books, book chapters, or journal articles that have affected how HR is practiced.

Submissions must be received no later than Monday, July 15, 2013. Please send your nomination by e-mail or via hard copy to arrive by that date. Submissions guidelines can be found here.

SIOP members have had great success with the Losey award in the past, winning eight of the nine most recent awards. SIOP winners include Eduardo Salas, Sara Rynes, Wayne F. Cascio, Benjamin Schneider, Herbert G. Heneman III, Michael Beer, Frank Schmidt, and Edward E. Lawler, III. Profiles of the previous recipients of the Losey award are featured on the SHRM website.

The award began when the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and its affiliates, the SHRM Foundation and the HR Certification Institute, established an endowment fund in honor of retired SHRM President and CEO Michael R. Losey, SPHR, CAE. This research fund has been established by the three boards to honor Mr. Losey and his contributions to the society and the HR field.
