Shift Ahead: Preparing Organizations to Meet Tomorrow’s Challenges

34th Annual IOOB Conference Submissions Due April 31, Registration Opens This Month

The recent economic crises have changed the landscape facing organizations worldwide, and professionals in the I-O psychology and organizational behavior fields are in a unique position to determine how to shift focus, restructure, and succeed into the future.

Based on this new perspective, the organizers of this year’s 34th Annual Industrial Organizational/Organizational Behavior (IOOB) Graduate Student Conference have designed the event around the theme “Shift Ahead: Preparing Organizations to Meet Tomorrow’s Challenges.”

Paper, presentation, and poster submissions are now being accepted for the IOOB conference, which will take place August 16-18, 2013 at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles. The deadline for submissions is April 31, 2013.

Registration for IOOB 2013 will be open by the end of February. Check
2013 IOOB Website for updates as the conference approaches.

This conference is an opportunity for seasoned and developing professionals, current students, and others interested in I-O psychology and organizational behavior to engage with each other in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.

By applying I-O and OB experiences in the field along with findings from academic research, the IOOB committee believes professionals can promote practices that will help businesses and organizations all over the world create value and prepare for the “new normal” of a post-recession economic environment.

To support this topic, the IOOB organizers have developed three main pillars:

  • Shifting Practices: Promoting best practices in response to the effects of globalization and rapid technological advances.
  • Focused Initiatives: Keys to the successful implementation of I-O and OB initiatives in a changing economic environment.
  • Next Generation: Preparing the next generation of I-O and OB professionals to make an impact in the post-recession environment.

Through compelling exchanges and participation in networking opportunities, attendees will share their unique perspectives and help each other find a sense of direction and in this uncertain environment.

“Join the IOOB 2013 organizers and shift into high gear,” urged SIOP student affiliate Erika Santilli, IOOB 2013 event project manager. “As the economy bounces back we need to prepare ourselves to shift organizational focus, find the right track, and stay one step ahead of the curve.”

Registration will be open by the end of February. Check the 2013 IOOB Website for updates as the conference approaches as well as links to their Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages.

The IOOB organizers are also currently seeking additional speakers and sponsors. If you are interested or would like more information, please email ioob2013@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing you in August!
